Palestinian militia leader Marwan Barghouti was sentenced to 165 years in prison. On Sunday, a Tel Aviv court sentenced the Fatah leader to five life terms in prison, one for each person murdered in shootings Barghouti was found guilty of planning. In addition to the 25-year life sentences, Barghouti got 20 years for ordering a failed car bombing in Jerusalem and another 20 for belonging to a terrorist organization, the Al-Aksa Brigade, which claimed responsibility for those attacks. Barghouti has denied involvement in terrorism but said he has no intention of appealing the sentence. He repeatedly has said he does not recognize the right of an Israeli court to try him.
