Palestinian police detained and confiscated the weapons of a group of Israeli police officers and soldiers who entered the self-rule area in pursuit of a stolen car. The Israelis were later released and their weapons returned. The Israel Defense Force said the commander of the Israeli unit would be tried for failing to coordinate the operation with the Palestinian liaison office.
