City Solicitor Joseph B. Perskie, of Atlantic City, is slated to succeed Mayor Harry Bacharach, of the resort municipality, on the State Board of Public Utility Commissioners, according to information reaching this city.
From sources close to the administration of Governor Morgan F. Larson, it was learned that he favors the appointment of Mr. Perskie although he will not nominate him immediately because he wishes Mayor Bacharach to continue as a member of the commission until the increased fare rate case of the Public Service Corporation, now pending, has been decided.
Mr. Perskie, like Mayor Bacharach, is active in the Jewish communal life of Atlantic City. He is also one of the state officers of the recently organized New Jersey branch of the American Jewish Congress. He is a son-in-law of the Rev. Hirsch Masliansky, noted Yiddish orator and scholar. He has held the post of City Solicitor of Atlantic City for a number of years.
