“A book burning is the only thing that is lacking to make American colleges similar to those in Germany,” declared George Sklar, co-author of the play “Peace on Earth” and “Stevedore,” in a speech attacking war preparations and Fascist tendencies in the United States. He spoke yesterday before about 100 Columbia University summer session students at a campus mass meeting of the Columbia branch of the American League against War and Fascism.
He denounced discrimination as a manifestation of “one of the most destructive forces facing civilization today.”
