A bill altering the municipal electoral system with the aim of “polonizing” cities and reducing minority representation was passed by the senate today. Senators Zeierski and Kozlowski announced that the whole aspect of Polish cities would be altered by the new law. the Jewish senator, Prof. Moses Schorr, opposed the bill, demanding maintenance of proportional representation for all sections of the population.
The Senate also adopted a bill regarding the meat trade which will result in restrictions on Jewish butchers. senator Jacob Trockenheim protested that the ousting of Jews was bound to have a serious effect on consumption of meat and would harm the trade.
Moshe Pugacz, vice-president of the Mizrachi organization in the town of Roziszcise, in the Volhynia province, was seriously injured in an attack and died on the way to the hospital. His three assailants were arrested.
