President Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize, in part for brokering the Camp David peace accords between Israel and Egypt. Carter, who served as U.S. president from 1977 to 1981, was cited for decades of work for human rights and conflict resolution.

Israeli police scuffled with Palestinians trying to force their way into the Temple Mount. About 200 Palestinians tried to push their way through a police barricade at the Old City’s Lion’s Gate last Friday to pray at the Al-Aksa Mosque.
