President Clinton said he wants to meet separately with Israeli and Palestinian leaders at the White House, but only if they try to halt the violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Clinton spoke by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat to offer the meetings.
