Leaders in all walks of Jewish life and delegations from more than 100 institutions affiliated with the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies attended the funeral services for Dr. Solomon Lowenstein held here today in the Central Synagogue. The burial was private.
The services were conducted by Rabbi Jonah B. Wise of the Central Synagogue and Rabbi Elias Margolis of Congregation Emanu-El, Mt. Vernon, a classmate of Dr. Lowenstein at the Hebrew Union College. The 1,500 persons who attended included all the officials of the Federation, of which Dr. Lowenstein was executive vice-president. The offices of the Federation remained closed all day.
