Prof. Aby Warburg Dies in Hamburg; Brother of Felix and Paul Warburg

Professor Aby Warburg, eldest brother of Felix M. Warburg and Paul Warburg of New York and Max Warburg of Hamburg, died here today. Death was caused by a heart attack. The late Prof. Warburg was 63 years old.

Prof. Warburg was well known as a scholar and teacher, devoting himself to philosophy and art. He was the author of a number of works. including “Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Spring” and “Art and Florentine Citizenry.” He was the founder of the famous Hamburg Warburg Library He was born in Hamburg June 13, 1866, the son of Charlotte (Oppenheim), and Moritz W. Warburg. In 1907 he was married to Mary Hertz.
