Professor Ernst Cohn, whose position as a member of the law faculty of the University of Breslau caused a storm of protest from Nazi sources and attacks upon him because he is a Jew, leading to the discontinuance of his lectures, has been named a member of the examining board of the University.
This appointment is held to be an unusual distinction and an earnestness of the University’s determination to retain his services. Professor Cohn is regarded as an authority on commercial law.
Professor Cohn held a seminar at the University today when classes were resumed. The University had been closed following anti-Semitic disturbances. Professor Cohn did not, however, deliver any lecture.
The rector of the University announced that any one who disturbed peace and order at the university would be sentenced to prison in accordance with the terms of an emergency decree.
