Progressive Jews are meeting in Brazil.
The biennal conference of the Union for Progressive Judiasm’s Latin America region, the Third Conference of Jewish Communities of Latin America, started Thursday in Rio de Janeiro.
Participants in the three-day conference include rabbis, cantors, professors and scholars from Latin America as well as the United States and Israel. The conference will feature religious services, Jewish music, lectures and workshops. Previous confrences were held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2004 and Punta del Este, Uruguay, in 2006.
