Suggestions for the creation of a non-political Jewish-Arab Association were made by delegations of Moslem youth organizations which attended the concluding session of the Tangier section of the Union of Jewish Youth.

The underlying principles of the Association would be to promote friendship between the Moslem and Jewish sections of the population and if possible to establish a joint home for their social and intellectual activities.

Tangier has a population of 60,000, of whom about 40,000 are Moslems and 10,000 Jews.

The plan of a Palestinian Jewish architect for the elimination of the slume in the city of Birmingham, England, and the erection of a civic center will be carried out by the municipality.

In order to obtain the best possible material for this work the municipal authorities asked for plans from architects all over the world. The winner of the competition has recently been announced as Maximillian Romanoff.

Mr. Romanoff is a son of Jewish parents born at Vilna in Lithuania, his father being at one time a building contractor. He studied architecture in Moscow and Petrograd, and was a student of town planning in Austria and Germany.

He settled in Palestine where he has been engaged on town planning work.
