Proposed changes to the definition of what constitutes a political committee could silence religious activists, the Reform movement says. The proposed Federal Election Commission changes, aimed at tightening laws limiting fund raising for “soft money” campaigns that target issues instead of candidates, are too broad, said Rabbi David Saperstein, director of Reform’s Religious Action Center.
