The Rabbinical Assembly of America will take up a proposal to establish a National Beth Din to function as a court of domestic relations and to deliberate on problems of marriage, the family and divorce, it was announced here today.
The National Beth Din, when created, would represent the first major organized effort to consider the problem of increased tensions in present-day family life with in the framework of Jewish tradition. Serving as members of this domestic relations court would be internationally noted scholars whose major vacation is Jewish law and its development authorities in American legal thought and jurisprudence, and specialists in the field of family relations.
