Republican Presidential candidate Ronald Reagan sent a telegram of congratulations to Israeli Ambassador Ephraim Evron yesterday an Israel’s 32nd Independence Day. Reagan said “the State of Israel is an inspiration to us in many ways.” He added that “Israel stands as an example of the determination and active preparedness of a people for the defense of its freedom.”

Reagan referred to Israel’s “ideals of human freedom and national independence; its unwavering opposition to any appeasement of terrorism; its steadfast resistance to Soviet-sponsored subversion and incursions, both direct and indirect; the stability of a liberal democratic society in a region of continuing tension and conflict.”
