Rechavam Amir, director of the department for education and culture in the diaspora of the Jewish Agency, has been appointed Israeli Consul General in New York to succeed Michael Arnon. Mr. Arnon in August will become secretary of the Cabinet and Government spokesman. No successor has been named for Mr. Amir.
