The annual convention of the Federation of Jewish Reconstructionist Congregations and Fellowships opened in suburban Skokie today, with the announced objective of acting on plans for the development of standards in the American Jewish community.
Dr. Ira Eisenstein, president of the Jewish Reconstructionist Foundation, said the standards would be those applying to Jewish ritual, adult learning and synagogue leadership. He said the time “has passed that we can be satisfied with mere affiliation with synagogues and other institutions.”
