An amicable agreement on the scope of the Intergovernmental Refugee Committee’s work was reached in a day of informal conferences today, it was learned tonight.
The Intergovernmental Committee will proceed with the “short-range” program of resettling the two to three handed thousand pre-war refugees now in Europe and will not consider at this session President Roosevelt’s proposal for a program looking toward resettlement of an anticipated ten to twenty million war refugees, but will hold itself in readiness to consider the plan if and when it becomes necessary.
Tonight, Myron C. Taylor, American vice-chairman, entertained delegates to the conference at a dinner at the Metropolitan Club. The conference will resume on Thursday.
