Several Jewish families from Germany stranded on an island in the Danube near Roustchouk were waiting today to be picked up by some passing ship. Living under appalling conditions, the refugees were not allowed to land anywhere and nobody was able to bring help to them thus far.

Several Jewish families resident in Bulgaria who hold foreign nationality and who have been ordered to leave the country are now interned in two hotels in the port of Varna pending repatriation.
