The authorities today made it virtually impossible for many German Jews to spend contemplated vacations in Palestine during the forthcoming Jewish holidays of Purim and Passover by ordering discontinuance of the so-called hotel certificates.

The certificates were used by tourists in Palestine to pay hotel bills since under Reich currency export restrictions they cannot withdraw enough money for the trip. The certificates were redeemed by the Reichsbank through sale of German merchandise in the Holy Land.

It was explained that the order was not meant as a reprisal against the German Jews but was dictated by a shortage of German credits in Palestine.
