Abel Shaban, chairman, of the World OSE Union and one of the leaders of South African Jewry, who had just returned from Israel, today expressed surprise over a report from Tel Aviv that he had stated there that the negotiations between the Joint Distribution Committee and OSE have broken down.

“This is not the case,” Mr. Shaban stated. “While the first meeting between the JDC and OSE representatives made slow progress, the holding of a second meeting is being agreed upon where, it is hoped, a satisfactory agreement will be realized.
