Jews henceforth will be totally prevented from practicing law in Poland according to new regulations being prepared by the government, it was disclosed today by the Gazeta Warszawska, organ of the National Democratic party.
The paper announces that, acting under pressure by the anti-Semitic press, the government is preparing severe measures to oust all Jews from the law profession and to make it virtually impossible for a Jew to become a lawyer.
A novel procedure will be proclaimed by the government for all desiring admittance to the bar. This procedure, according to the Gazeta Warszawska, will require that one be admitted to the bar only after five years’ service as a court judge. Since it is very rare for a Jew to be admitted in Poland as a judge, the proposed regulation is tantamount to eliminating all Jews from the bar.
Jewish leaders today submitted a complaint to the government against the municipality of Warsaw for expelling Jewish institutions from buildings owned by the municipality.
The complaint followed an order yesterday that the last Jewish institution located in a municipal building be moved. The institution was a Jewish foundlings’ home.
