Residents of eastern Jerusalem who do not live in Israel for more than seven years will no longer lose their right to live there. Israeli Interior Minister Natan Sharansky made the decision in the wake of several Supreme Court petitions filed on the matter. “As someone who believes that Jerusalem must remain under Israeli sovereignty, we must look after the rights of all citizens,” said the former Soviet dissident.
