Rep. Kenneth B. Keating, who returned yesterday from a tour of European countries during which he visited a member of camps for displaced persons, today told a press conference here that there is a general agreement among American personnel operating the displaced persons program in Europe that the cut-off date should be changed from Dec. 5, 1945 to April 17, 1947.

Quite aside from the question of discrimination involved in maintaining Dec. 5 as the eligibility date for DP’s, Keating said, there is general agreement that administratively it is necessary to change to the later date of April 17 so that Army census records made at that time can be used. Keating said he had a bill which he would reintroduce at the next session of Congress, providing for the change of eligibility to the latter date.
