Richard Witting, one-time Oberbuergermeister of Posen and friend of the former Kaiser, is dead. Geheimrat Witting was like his brother Maximillan Harden a noted publicist, a baptised Jew. Their original name was Witkowsky, the Geheimrat taking a name which retained at least some of the elements of the original.
Herr Witting died a radical pacifist and anti-monarchist though in the days of his association with von Buelow he was both a militarist and monarchist.
