The $500,000 subscription of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. brought the fund for furthering Jewish colonization work in Russia to the $8,000,000 mark, James N. Rosenberg, Chairman of the Agrojoint, the agency sponsoring the colonization work, announced yesterday urging immediate completion of the ten million dollar fund inaugurated by Julius Rosenwald’s $5,000,000 subscription.

“We are now on the home stretch,” said Mr. Rosenberg. “Subscriptions now amount to just short of $8,000,000. We expect that a contract will shortly be closed with the Russian authorities. It was never more important than it is right at this minute for us promptly to complete the $10,000,000 fund. Now we are on the home stretch, we must not get tired. We must win this race against suffering and misery. There are generous and wealthy men in Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and other points who will surely take a part in this great effort to save and rehabilitate the Jews of Russia.

“Mr. Hoover’s endorsement of the work and Mr. Rockefeller’s magnificent support are significant evidence from the highest possible quarters as to the soundness of this undertaking.”
