The British Exchequer which had faced a deficit is said now to be assured of a balance due to a second windfall that had come to it through the will of Nathaniel Rothschild leaving £2,250,000 from which the Government derives nearly a million in death duties.
Nathaniel was a brother of Lord Rothschild and head of the firm. He committed suicide in October.
With the £1,500,000 in death duties on the fortune left by Maurice Marcus the British exchequer would be enriched by about £2,500,000 of “Jewish money”.
