A conference between the Roumanian Minister at Washington and Jewish leaders was held on Friday at the Hotel Ambassador, New York, to discuss the situation of the Jewish population in Roumania.
Louis Marshall, president of the American Jewish Committee; Max D. Stener, chairman of the Advisory Committee of the American Jewish Congress; W. Nelson Cromwell, president of the society, Friends of Roumania, and Edward Herbert, formerly an officer of the United Roumanian Jews of America, conferred with George Cretziano, the Roumanian Minister.
No details were given out with regard to the conference, but on its conclusion, the Roumanian Minister issued the following statement to the representative of the jewish Telegraphic Agency.
“The Roumanian Minister, Mr. Cretziano met last night at the Ambassador Hotel Mr, Louis Marshall, president of the American Jewish Committee, Mr. Max D. Steuer, who was the chairman at the American Jewish Congress, Mr. W. Nelson Cromwell, President of the Society ‘Friends of Roumania; and Mr. Edward Herbert.
“Mr. Cretziano was desirous to see the great Jewish leaders, in order to get first hand intormation regarding Jewish grievances. The conference lasted three hours and was carried on in a most cordial manner. It is hoped that much good will result from this conference to both the Jews and Roumania.”
