RUMANIA SEEKS TO COVER UP ARRESTS OF JEWISH LEADERS
The official Rumanian news agency, which studiously ignores all protests from abroad against the mass arrests of Zionist and Jewish communal leaders in Rumania, today carried a long laudatory feature on the Bucharest Jewish state theatre.
The article reports that the Jewish theatre has had the unstinting support of the Rumanian Government and that the troupe is preparing to take to the road to present to Jewish communities in Transylvania and Moldavia plays which “are close to the heart of the working masses” by Sholem Aleichem and Abraham Goldfaden, as well as by contemporary playwrights.
