Sarah Palin met with Israel’s ambassador to the United States. The Republican vice-presidential nominee and Sallai Meridor met Monday morning at a hotel in Leesburg, Va., before a Palin appearance in the area.

They discussed blilateral relations between the United States and Israel, as well as the challenges both countries face, particularly the Iranian nuclear threat, according to an embassy official. “I look forward to hearing about your work with the Jewish Agency and all the plans that we have,” Palin told Meridor in a brief photo opportunity before the meeting, noting Meridor’s previous chairmanship of the Jewish Agency for Israel. “We’ll be working together.”

An embassy official said Meridor had requested the opportunity to meet Palin. Meridor was planning to speak later in the day by telephone with Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden.
