The future of schechita, Jewish ritual for the slaughtering of animals, was endangered today as the Dutch Association for the Protection of Animals released its report following an extensive inquiry into this ritual. Among the veterinarians who took part in the investigation, 511 voted that schechita be abolished, while only four were in favor of its continuance.
