Sen. Alfonse D’Amato (R-N.Y.) is urging Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan to block the proposed merger of the Swiss Bank Corporation and Union Bank of Switzerland in the United States. Shareholders of the two banks this week overwhelmingly approved the merger, first announced in December.
