Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) is seeking an increase in U.S. engagement in the Middle East if there is a successful war in Iraq. Speaking to the Council on Foreign Relations Wednesday in Washington, Lieberman said U.S. influence in the world will increase after a successful military engagement, and the United States should use that leverage to press Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
