Senior Labor Party officials have backed the appointment of Shimon Peres as interim party leader. The former chairman of the party, Benjamin Ben-Eliezer, said he supports the appointment of Peres, Labor’s senior statesman, as temporary chairman to replace Amram Mitzna, who announced his resignation Sunday night.
