The marriage of Miss Margery Goldsmith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Goldsmith of 45 East Sixty-fifth street and Mr. George Clark Engel, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Engel of 10 East Eighty-fifth street took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria. Dr. Jonah B. Wise performed the ceremony. A large reception followed.
The bride wore an ivory satin gown with long, tight-fitting sleeves and a tulle veil trimmed with lace. She carried a bouquet of orchids and lilies-of-the-valley, Miss Elinor Goldsmith was her sister’s maid-of-honor. She wore a blue chiffon dress and a large leghorn hat with streamers. She carried yellow daisies and tea roses.
The bride’s other attendants were the Misses Alice May Conried Jane Engel, Barbara Forsch, Edith Erdmann, Louise Grumbach, Phoebe Hochstader, Nina Lowenstein, and Jane Sicher. They wore yellow chiffon gowns and leghorn hats with blue streamers and carried delphinium.
Mr. Howard Harris was the best man, and the ushers were the Messrs. Malcolm Foster, Justin Bijur, Theodore Rittenberg, Lee J. Spiegelberg, George Rosenfeld, Joseph Berlinger, Harry Goldsmith Jr., and Richard Kahn.
Among those who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Grumbach, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Erdmann, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hochstader, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Sicher, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Bernstein, Mr. and Mrs. James Goldsmith, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kaufman, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Forsch, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Bernard, Mr. and Mrs. William Ehrich, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Waldo. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Conried, and Mrs. Arthur Lehman.

Mr. and Mrs. Engel will spend some time in West Indies, for which they sailed on Thursday, and upon their return they will reside in New York.
Following the Goldsmith-Engel wedding Miss Alice May Conried gave a dinner for a few of her friends in the Persian Room of the Hotel Plaza, in honor of her birthday. Her guests included the Misses Jane Sicher, Edith Erdmann, Barbara Forsch, Elinor Goldsmith and Phoebe Hochstader, and the Messrs. John Karger, James Salinger, Sidney New, Albert Erdman Jr., John Meyer and Jack Aarons.
Miss Conried has inherited the dramatic ability of her well known family, and is expected to rival the achievements of her grand-father some day.
Miss Joan Guggenheim, daughter of Mrs. Harold S. Matzinger and Harry F. Guggenheim, former Ambassador to Cuba, was married to Charles Murray, son of Mrs. Charles Murray, on June 15 in the garden of Crow’s Nest, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matzinger in the Sea Cliff summer colony. There were no attendants. Judge Reginald Moore performed the ceremony, which was attended only by close relatives.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Daniel Guggenheim of Sands Point, and a niece of Colonel M. Robert Guggenheim and S. R. Guggenheim.
After a wedding trip to California, Mr. and Mrs. Murray will reside in Sands Point.
The Century Country Club had a dinner dance last Saturday night. A great many people went up to Westchester over the weekend for this and a tennis tournament that was held on Saturday and Sunday.
Mrs. Eugene Meyer, who is chairman of the Westchester County Recreation Commission has announced that Meyer Davis, the dance orchestra director, will appear in person as the leader of one of his orchestras every night during the summer at the County Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanleigh Friedman and their two daughters and son sailed for Europe on Wednesday night on the S. S. Majestic. Mr. Friedman is a member of the firm of Thomas and Friedman, which is general council for Warner Bros Pictures, Inc.
