Mayor William O’Dwyer today proclaimed the week of Nov. 8-14 as “SOS Week” in New York City and urged the city’s citizens “to extend a helping hand to SOS to protect the lives and hopes of the 180,000 Jewish refugees now interned in Europe’s DP camps.” SOS, the Supplies for Overseas Survivors Collection of the Joint Distribution Committee, is now engaged in a local campaign for 1,250,000 pounds of canned foods, layette articles, new clothing, and other relief supplies.
