President Eisenhower faces renewed opposition from Southern Democratic Senators if he again appoints Solicitor General Simon Sobeloff as a federal judge, the New York Post reported today from Washington.
The President appointed Sobeloff before Congress adjourned, but Sens. Eastland (D. Miss.) and Johnston (D-S.C.) were able to block action by the Judiciary Committee and the nomination died. The Southerners object to Sobeloff on the ground that he advocated desegregating the public schools.
