Soviet efforts to “use Jews as scapegoats in the desperate and failing drive to conquer all mankind” were condemned today by Robert R.Nathan, Washington economist, addressing the opening session of a two-day conference of the National Women’s Division of the United Jewish Appeal.
“We do know,” he said, “that little value is placed on human lives in the Soviet world” and that “enslavement and even extermination of groups is not without precedent. Every effort must be made,” he stressed, “to prevent a repetition of what happened under the Nazis.”
