French Minister of Information Georges Gorse said today that the French Government “has no new initiative in view” following the failure of the United Nations General Assembly to adopt operative resolutions on the Middle East. The French had strongly supported the unsuccessful Yugoslav resolution.

French newspapers continued today a barrage of criticism of President de Gaulle’s Middle East policy and there was some suggestion that the President had been badly misled by French intelligence reports as to Israel’s capacity to withstand the Arab onslaught.
