“The wonderful stand” of American Jewry in protesting to the State Department its unilateral arming of the Arab states was praised here today at the annual conference of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. The delegates applauded lustily when one of the speakers referred to American Jewry’s support of a more balanced American policy in the Middle East.

Later, addressing the session. Ambassador Eliahu Elath of Israel declared that his country had no fear of the Arabs although there was no peace in the region. He stressed that while Israel was doing everything it could to promote an understanding with the neighboring states, it was determined to protect itself by every means at its disposal.
