Suicide is banned by Jewish law — even in cases of terminal illness. This was explained here this week by Sephardi Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef following a “suicide pact” episode reported recently involving an Israeli doctor and his wife who both found they were suffering from incurable cancer.
