Switzerland invited Austrian officials to visit as soon as possible, despite European Union objections to the inclusion of the far-right Freedom Party in Austria’s new government. A Swiss government spokesman said possible dates for a visit are being discussed with Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel. It is a long-standing custom that the first official foreign visit by an Austrian chancellor is to neighboring Switzerland.
