Synagogues and temples throughout the country will observe "Cancer Control Sabbath" next Saturday, many of the Jewish houses of worship invoking a special prayer written for that day by Rabbi Saul E. White, of Congregation Beth Sholom, San Francisco.
Announcement of the plans for "Cancer Control Sabbath" was made here today by Mefford R. Runyon, executive vice-president of the American Cancer Society. Sunday, Christian churches will offer special prayers written by prominent Catholic and Protestant clergymen. The religious observances are among many activities, Society’s annual campaign launched by President Eisenhower.
