An appeal to the Jews of Palestine to aid Syrian Jews stricken by recent Nationalist strikes and rioting was received here today.
The appeal said the Jews in Syria faced economic ruin. A relief committee has been formed in Damascus which reports hundreds of Jewish families destitute. Jewish shopkeepers, the committee stated, were forced to join the strike under threats that their shops would be burned down.
