Syria’s president slammed Western criticism of his country. Speaking Thursday at a Damascus university, Bashar Assad said Syria is the subject of an organized campaign by media opposed to Syrian support for Hezbollah, Palestinians fighting Israel and opposition to the Iraq war, The Associated Press reported.
