Talks on a prisoner swap for kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit have been frozen, a Hamas leader said.
Senior Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar said Wednesday that talks have been halted since Israel will not agree to release prisoners who killed Israelis.
Talks had been stalled as well because Gaza Strip border crossings with Israel and Egypt remain closed.
Shalit was captured in a cross-border raid two years ago and is believed to be held in Gaza.
