A new building to house the department of electrical engineering at the Israel Institute of Technology was dedicated at ceremonies here last night. The building is named for Harry Fischback of New York, one of America’s leading electrical contractors and a vice president of the American Technion Society, who raised $1, 500, 000 for the school, including $250, 000 which he personally contributed.
Premier David Ben Gurion, who participated in the ceremonies at the new Technion campus praised the Institute as a link between Israel and world Jewry, particularly the American community. He urged the scientists and technicians at the Institute to make all possible haste in developing processes for converting sea water into fresh water and harnessing the sun’s energies.
Mr. Fischback expressed the hope that students and teachers from all Middle Eastern countries would eventually come to the Technion. A cornerstone for the Anna and Alexander Konoff trade school was laid at the exercise.
