The American Jewish Committee is upset over an award Los Angeles County is giving to a man the group calls a radical Islamist. Maher Hathout, slated to be honored by the Los Angeles County Commission on Oct. 5, is a “radical Islamic leader masquerading as a moderate,” said Sherry Weinman, the president of the AJCommittee’s Los Angeles Chapter.
