Telegrams addressed to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in London by the J.T.A. representative in Aden during the recent anti-Jewish rioting were held back by the authorities, the J.T.A. now learns on receiving letters from its representative in Aden.
The authorities did not inform either the J.T.A. office in London or the J.T.A. representative in Aden that the telegrams had not been forwarded, and the representative was allowed to believe that the messages had been duly delivered, while the J.T.A. was left without any direct news of the occurrences.
This action taken by the authorities is contrary to the usual practice in connection with press telegrams. There is no censorship in Aden, and on enquiry in Government circles, the J.T.A. is informed that there is no justification for press messages having been held back, and particularly for the fact that no intimation to this effect was given to either party concerned.
