The defense team of Palestinian militia leader Marwan Barghouti includes the grandson of a prominent Israeli Torah scholar. Shamai Leibowitz, grandson of the late Yeshayahu Leibowitz, said he joined the team because he believes Barghouti is struggling against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, not the existence of the State of Israel.
